My Sister Wore A White Wedding Dress To My Ceremony. I Let Her Walk Down The Aisle — Then The Groom Did Something Nobody Expected. (PART 2)

…a photographer. She wanted pictures of her in my apartment that she could send you this morning.”

My father held up the papers from the envelope. They were printed text messages between my sister, Jessica, and a friend. “Once she sees the photos of me at his place, she’ll call off the wedding. Then everyone will see she was never good enough for him.”

My fiancé, David, explained. Three weeks before the wedding, Jessica had shown up at his apartment late at night, claiming she needed to talk about “a surprise for the bride.” She’d brought a friend with a camera. David had refused to let them in. Jessica tried to push past him. He closed the door and called his best man.

The next day, Jessica’s friend, who’d felt terrible, sent David the entire message thread.

“I didn’t tell you then,” David said to me, “because I knew it would break your heart before our wedding. And because I suspected she’d try something else today. I wanted everyone to see it.”

Two hundred guests had just watched Jessica walk down the aisle in a white dress.

My mother started crying. My father stood up, took Jessica by the arm and walked her out of the church. She was still screaming that it was a misunderstanding.

I looked at David. He looked back at me. “Do you still want to marry me after all that?” he asked.

“More than ever,” I said.

We got married twenty minutes later. My mother apologized to me during the reception for telling me to let Jessica have her moment. Jessica didn’t come to the reception. She sent a text two months later saying she was sorry. I’m still deciding whether to answer.
