MY HUSBAND SAID HE WAS “RUNNING THE DOG” — BUT THE DOG HAD BEEN DEAD FOR THREE YEARS

The plate came back to a woman named Monica. I knew the name because she’d been at our house once, years ago, when Cody was still coming around. I watched the footage again and noticed something I’d missed the first time. The Silverado wasn’t just parked across the street. It arrived eleven minutes before my husband left the house, and it pulled away less than two minutes after he came back. On the two nights someone walked up our driveway, my husband had gone outside at exactly 9:03. I asked him who Monica was. He said he didn’t know anyone by that name. Then I asked why he’d been going outside every night when we haven’t owned a dog since 2023.

He got angry and told me I was imagining things. I didn’t argue. I just kept watching the footage. The next night the Silverado came back, and this time I zoomed in on the driver. It was Cody. I called my husband from the bedroom and asked him whether he’d been in contact with his son. He said no. Then I told him I had the truck on camera. He went completely silent. A few minutes later he admitted Cody had been stopping by, but said he never came inside. I asked why. He said Cody was “having a hard time.” Then I asked why Cody had been standing in our driveway looking through the front window. My husband said, “He wasn’t looking for you.”

The next morning I called the police and asked whether the truck’s plate had been connected to any recent complaints. The officer called me back an hour later. The Silverado had been reported outside another woman’s house several times. Same pattern. It would arrive after dark, someone would walk up to the house, and then the truck would leave. I asked whether the woman had given them a name. She had. Cody. Then the officer asked me something that made my stomach drop: “Ma’am, has your husband ever told you about the restraining order?” I said no. He told me it had been filed six months earlier — by the same woman whose name was on the plate. And when I asked why my husband was involved, the officer said, “Because your husband is listed as the person who agreed to keep Cody away from her.”
