My Husband Tracked My Every Thursday—But the Question He Asked Hurt More Than Being Caught

I looked at the photo on his phone and felt my stomach drop. It wasn’t a picture of Marcus kissing me or even holding my hand—it was me laughing in the coffee shop, looking happier than I had in years. Tom quietly admitted he’d been following my Thursday routine for almost a month, hoping each time he’d discover he was imagining things. Instead, every week gave him another reason to stop believing his own marriage.

“I ended it yesterday,” I whispered, unable to meet his eyes. Marcus and I had already agreed it couldn’t continue because neither of us wanted to destroy our families. Tom nodded slowly and slid another envelope across the table. Inside were the divorce papers he’d downloaded but never filed, along with a handwritten note listing every anniversary, birthday, and family trip we’d shared over sixteen years. “I wanted to remember what we had before I decided whether it was worth fighting for,” he said.

For the first time that night, neither of us argued. We talked until sunrise about everything we’d ignored for years—the loneliness, the routines, and the silence that had settled into our marriage long before Marcus entered the picture. Whether we stayed together or walked away, we agreed on one thing: the affair hadn’t destroyed our marriage; it had exposed the cracks we’d both spent years pretending weren’t there.
