My sister called me at eleven that night after watching the video from my baby shower. She said she’d noticed something I hadn’t — every time someone offered me a chair, my mother-in-law immediately found a reason to move them away. She had been doing it the entire afternoon, smiling and acting as though she was simply trying to keep the room organized.
Then my sister told me to watch the moment when one of the guests finally asked why I was still standing. My mother-in-law laughed and said I was “doing great” and that sitting too long could be dangerous at thirty-four weeks. But right after the woman walked away, my mother-in-law looked straight at the camera and said something my cousin hadn’t noticed at the time.
